Rory Bergin set up the Sustainable Futures team in 2007 and over the last decade has managed its growth to provide a wide range of services to our clients aimed at improving the sustainability of development. He leads a specialist team composed of architects and engineers who carry out building performance analysis for our colleagues in HTA and for external clients. Our areas of expertise include building physics, daylight and sunlight, energy, microclimate, prefabrication and the BREEAM sustainability standards.
He led the sustainability aspects of many of HTA’s award-winning projects including Hanham Hall, Olympic Way, Apex House, the Aylesbury Estate, the Merton Regeneration estates and many more.
Rory presents the teams work and HTA’s work widely across the UK and abroad, and is a regular contributor to the architectural press on sustainability matters ranging from energy policy to the ethics of development.
He currently chairs the Housing Forum working group on Housing Quality and represents HTA on working groups for the Construction Leadership Council on Offsite Construction and the UK Apartment Association on Technology Committee.
Rory is a technical advisor to ActiveHouse a holistic sustainability standard, and holds a number of sustainability accreditations.
Originally trained as an architect, Rory has worked at HTA since 1993, becoming a partner in 2015.
